If your knees hurt when you squat, climb stairs, or even walk for a while, you are not alone. Knee pain is one of the most common reasons people over 40 avoid exercise altogether. And that avoidance, over time, usually makes things worse.
Here is what we want you to know, from a studio that trains adults with knee issues every week here in Klang.
Pain Is a Signal, Not a Stop Sign
It is easy to assume that knee pain means your knees are damaged and you should rest them. Sometimes rest is right. But very often, knee pain comes from weakness and poor movement, not injury. The muscles around the knee, your thighs, hips and glutes, are meant to support and control the joint. When they are weak, the knee takes load it was never meant to carry.
In other words, the fix is often not less movement. It is the right movement.
Common Reasons Knees Hurt During Exercise
A few things we see again and again: weak or inactive glutes that force the knee to do the hip's job, tight hips and ankles that change how you move, jumping into high impact exercise too soon, and simply doing exercises with poor form and no guidance.
Notice that none of these mean you cannot exercise. They mean the approach needs to change.
How We Train Around Knee Pain at EVO
Before anything else, we assess how you move. We look at your hips, ankles, and the strength of the muscles that support the knee. Then we build a plan that strengthens those muscles without aggravating the joint.
That often means starting with low impact, controlled exercises that build strength safely. As the supporting muscles get stronger, the knee has to do less work, and the pain usually settles. Many of our clients who arrived convinced they could never squat or climb stairs pain free are now doing exactly that.
You Do Not Have to Live With It
Knee pain is common, but it is not something you simply have to accept as part of getting older. With the right assessment and a plan built around your body, most people can get stronger and move with far less pain.
If you are in Klang and your knees have been holding you back, book a free consultation. We will assess how you move and show you a safe way forward.
